Travel & adventure
Kyrgyzstan Expeditions Co.
A live adventure travel brand: expeditions in Kyrgyzstan, presented so a trip is easy to picture, easy to compare and easy to ask about.
A live travel business I built from the ground up. My own project, not a client engagement.

The brief
What the site had to do.
Adventure travel is sold on atmosphere but booked on detail. The site had to feel expedition-grade and still answer the practical questions: what the trip involves, who it suits, and how to ask about it. Neither side could bury the other.
Approach
How it was designed and built.
- 01
Photography-led, with discipline underneath
The interface leads with imagery and space rather than dense blocks of text, so the scale of the country does the selling. The type system and grid stay strict underneath, which is what keeps a photography-heavy design from turning into a scrapbook.
- 02
Expeditions presented as comparable offers
Each trip follows the same structure, so someone weighing up two options is comparing like with like instead of re-reading. Detail is layered: an overview for people browsing, itinerary specifics for people close to committing.
- 03
Built mobile-first for people planning on a phone
Long-haul travel gets researched in gaps: on a commute, in bed, on patchy signal. Layouts, image sizes and tap targets were designed for that first, then opened up for desktop rather than the other way round.
- 04
A short route from interested to in touch
The enquiry path is deliberately low-friction: an obvious next step from any trip, a form that asks only what's needed to reply usefully, and no account to create before a question can be asked.

The result
What the finished site does.
These are observable qualities of the build. There are no traffic figures, conversion rates or revenue claims here, because publishing numbers I can't independently show you would be worth nothing to you.
- 01A complete, live digital presence for the business
- 02Expeditions presented coherently, so trips can be compared quickly
- 03Mobile-first layouts for research done on a phone
- 04A clear route from browsing a trip to sending an enquiry
- 05Structured so new expeditions can be added without a redesign
The connection
Where the approach here came from
Kyrgyzstan Expeditions is one of the projects that led to Magnetic Island Web Design. Running a real business online, rather than only designing one, is where the habits behind this studio came from. Work out what the customer actually needs to know, put it where they will look for it, and make the next step obvious. That is the same thinking I bring to a cafe on the island.
